Plant the Mission-Critical Keystone Wildflowers for Pollinator Survival

GardenGenius™ Keystone Wildflower Seed Tin — our most essential seed collection for pollinator health. Featuring Ecoregion 8 native keystone plants that together host approximately 211 caterpillar species and 147 pollen specialist bee species, this tin is a biodiversity powerhouse. It contains more than 12 seeds of each species — Stiff Leaf Goldenrod, Smooth Blue Aster, and Lanceleaf Coreopsis — for a total of 36+ seeds that provide food and shelter for an estimated 358 essential insect species.  It's best to plant these in the fall but you can artificially cold stratify these to plant them in spring.

What’s Inside the Tin

  • Seeds of 3 native keystone wildflower species:
    • Stiff Leaf Goldenrod (Solidago rigida) — cold stratify 6–8 weeks in freezer; press seed lightly onto soil surface; needs light to germinate
    • Smooth Blue Aster (Symphyotrichum laeve) — bury seed just below the soil surface; plant in groups of 3, spaced 1–2 ft apart for stability
    • Lanceleaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) — cold stratify 3–4 weeks in freezer; plant seed 1/16 in deep
  • 3 Growth Media Pucks — nutrient-rich starter medium for strong germination
